What do the numbers mean on what the blade is made out of? Which is stonger. which would you pick?
I am looking at buying one or the other of these 2 knives. Its between the KA-Bar and the SOG Seal pup. I know these numbers are ratings for the strength of the blade but i dont know which indicates a stronger blade and which would you take?
KA-BAR
1095 high-carbon steel
Or SOG Seal pup
AUS-6 stainless steel blades possessing a 56-57 Rockwell rating.
1095 steel is a carbon steel with 0.95% carbon, which is a high carbon steel.
The Rockwell C scale is used for hard steels. 56-57 is very hard. Steel can be hardened up to about C65, which is too brittle to make a good knife.
