Still One Of The Most Popular Stand Mixers Available – The Kenwood Chef Premier
The Kenwood KMC560 Chef Premier incorporates several upgrades and improvements over the Kenwood Chef Classic. Sleeker and sharper in design, the KMC560 is finished in smart brushed satin silver.
Most people buy a stand mixer to handle the heavy work such as kneading, beating and whisking that can take much of the pleasure out of baking and breadmaking. The end result is much more easily controlled as well. And a stand mixer will cope with much larger quantities than a hand-held device.
The KMC560 has a 4.6 litre bowl with the capacity for 2.7 kg of cake mixture or just over 2 kg of bread dough. The motor is a powerful 1000W unit which should be plenty for any domestic task.
The electronic control maintains the motor speed regardless of load on the mixer. There’s a pulse function as well.
There are 4 tools supplied with the mixer – a whisk, a general purpose beater, a dough hook and a flexible beater. The mixer head tips back to let you change the tools, then locks back down again to prevent lifting in use.
An often seen comment from users is how some Kenwood mixers require initial adjustment to the height of the tools, so that they just clear the sides of the bowl and do not leave a layer of unmixed ingredients. Good instructions are supplied on how to do this though.
The splashguard lets you add dusty ingredients to the mixer whilst it is running.
The 1.5 L glass blender that comes with the Chef Premier is a welcome bonus. This is great if you make a lot of smoothies or soups. There’s a large range of other attachments that can be added later if you want – pasta makers, an icecream maker, a spice mill and a juicer for example.
It’s true to say that the attachments do not come cheap. But they are designed to last as long as the mixer – which can be 30 years plus if users are to be believed.
Other inclusions in the package are a recipe book and a CD/DVD for full instructions. Plus a full 1-year warranty.
Are there any points that people are less happy about? There have been a few comments about the level of noise, but not to a serious extent. The mixer is not supplied with a cover, which would probably be needed to keep your purchase looking like new.
Apart from that, the vast majority of users are very happy. The Kenwood KMC560 is seen as a mixer that will last for years, giving reliable service.
It’s very clear that many purchasers have found a love for cooking long believed lost or forgotten. It seems that once in the habit of using a mixer like this, it’s quite difficult to stop!
