I am trying to build a plate rack……?
i would like to build a wooden plate rack that fits to the wall with drainage. i have w window where the drainer is so cant have one here, but i would likea rack that just drip dries the plates and cups and they are stored there too. Has anybody got one of these? Or do you know how i can waterproof the wood and ‘woo’ the water to where i want it to go??
You can never fully waterproof the wood, the closest you can get would be a marine finish, or acrylic paint. That will create a decent barrier to prevent most moisture from penetrating the wood. though you won’t necessarily be drenching it.
I would suggest that you may just need a rack for displaying your plates, then you dont have to destroy the natural beauty of the wood. And theres a lot of opportunities for you there.
or you may just use a wooden wall mount and with some notched dowels to set your plates on, the water can drip straight down.
