Do you think I can change him?
I have a skill saw, a large cleaver, a scalpel, a ball of heavy duty thread, upholstery needles, some assorted body parts and, strangely, a wheel of semi soft Brie…
I’m okay at taking things apart, but I really want to make sure I effect a noticeable change in him.
Can it be done?
I don’t have anyone in particular in mind. It’s just being on here, it makes you see how many people are trying to change each other. I think home surgery may be the way to go O-O

Personally, I’d skip the meat-cutting/surgical implements and go with a set of beer goggles. So much less messy. Much pleasanter, too. ;^))
Your point is well taken: there is no force in the universe strong enough to change someone who does not want to change. The only person in the world whose behavior you absolutely positively can modify is yourself.
My mom went to a counselor for more than 20 years trying to find the magic formula to make my dad become a different person, and the whole time the counselor tried to tell her that there was no way my mom could make my dad change. My mom went to her grave at 59 still trying to find the magic formula. Very sad and futile.
