2. An electrical installation consists of:
i. A downstairs lighting circuit supplying 4 conventional 100W filament lamps, 2 x 40W fluorescent lamps in the kitchen and a PIR detector and 250W outside lighting unit
ii. An upstairs lighting circuit supplying 5 conventional filament lamps. One of these lamps is connected to a 2 way switching circuit.
iii. A downstairs ring main.
iv. An upstairs ring main
Describe the procedure for testing the INSULATION RESISTANCE of the complete installation.
remove lamps and electronic components (flourescent ballasts and PIR) and ensure that no sockets have anything plugged in, turn all switches on. then test insulation resistance from distribution board. switch two way switching and re-test.
