Is it ok to keep food in an opened can?
I often only want a part of the contents of a can; I can’t eat it all. Is it bad to just put saran wrap over the top and keep the extra in the fridge? I once heard that bacteria grows in an opened can and that it should be thrown away and extra food needs to be kept in a container. Is this true? Is it bad to keep food in an opened can?
Depends upon the can. Those that are enamel lined can be used when covered with plastic wrap. But acidic foods like tomatoes don’t work well stored in this manner. Use a zip-lock bag. Easy and disposable.
