what all do i need for gerbils!?
im getting a gerbil in a few days and i just want to make sure i have everything on my list! i will be getting everything from petco! please add anything, give me advise, or take away anything that is needed! thankss!

alright, just to clarify, i am getting two. im not gunna waste my money on a food keeper. i was planning on just giving them empty tissue boxes and toliet paper rolls. and only blocks, not toys. and i wont buy the treats from the store. i think i got it, thank youu.
Make sure the cage is pretty large – gerbils and other rodents need room to play.
Make sure the bedding says it is safe for gerbils – or ask an employee. Some beddings
can be harmful to the little guys. (Cedar, etc.)
For hiding spots: You don’t HAVE to buy one from the store. A flower pot with a hole in it or a
toilet paper tube would work nicely!
Make sure to NOT stuff the gerbils cage with hanging toys, etc. I’d say (in the cage), just have:
Food (In bowl)
Water (In dispenser)
Hiding Spot (he only needs one – he’ll dig his own holes for hiding as well!)
Wheel
A few small treats scattered around the cage.
Remember, you want to give him as much room as possible for playing.
As for food – check with an employee about that, too. Try to find food
that has things like dried apple, seeds, etc.
DO NOT buy gerbil pellets. They can be a source of food, but not on their own.
They don’t have enough nutrients, and most rodents don’t like the taste of them!
Though, you can mix pellets in with a gerbil food mix – it will actually say “gerbil food mix”
on the package. Also, make sure every other day you give your gerbil a small carrot or a slice of an
apple – they need fresh nutrients. Change his/her water every other day, make sure it is cool, but not
too cool, as this could shock your gerbil. I know this was long, but I hope it helps!
