Looking for a decent light-weight pocket knife for about $10. Not anything fancy or very high quality?
Just that. Something functional with a single, locking 4-inch blade and light-weight so that it does not wear through blue jeans pockets. Inexpensive. It is not for heavy work and pocket knives tend to get lost.
So, this is pretty old school, but I would recommend an Opinel, and probably this one:

I’ve carried one of the carbon steel versions for years – a gift from my parents when they went to France many years ago. It is a dirt simple design basic wooden handle and a thin blade with a long flat grind so extremely sharp for practical every day applications. You aren’t going to pry on anything successfully with it, but it will cut about any household or work sort of stuff you need. The locking mechanism, which is ridiculously simple, works well.
