Looking for hand forged knives.?
I am looking to have 3 knifes hand forged. They are for my daughters when they reach adulthood (religious belief). Can you recommend anyone who does custom work?
I want a professional and to be able to see examples before talking to them.
It is very much a function of where you live and how much you want to pay. If you go to the American Bladesmith Society website:

You will find a list of people dedicated to the hand forged bladecraft. Simple membership in the society has no specific requirements, however, if you look at the Journeyman Bladesmiths they have passed an exceptionally difficult test requiring hand making 4 different knives using their own hand forging. If you choose one of the Mastersmith’s they have done this with hand forged Damascus steel.
I have had the chance to meet a number of such people and they are true devotees to the craft. Virtually all of them that are at Journeyman or Mastersmith level are professional makers.
