Cut tip of finger badly (not off, though). What should I do?
This morning (maybe 15 hours ago) I sliced my thumb with an extra sharp Rada knife. It didn’t take the tip off, but the cut is very deep. It finally stopped bleeding (mostly) an hour ago, but I’m not sure if I should leave the wound open or closed when I’m sitting around at home. If I leave it open, will the skin die (and leave me with a chunk of thumb missing)? Or will it not scab over if I keep Neosporin and a Band-Aid over it?
Leave the skin there, it will cover the wound and protect it. Once it dies it will fall away on it’s own.
Bandaid it, if you have one of a suitable size, and put antisceptic cream/spray on if you have it.
Make sure you keep it dry and clear of debris.
It will scab still, dependin on how deep the actual slice is.
Change the bandaid as often as needed.
If it does not stop bleeding, go see a doctor or first aid officer for assesment.
