Renault: The Road Ahead
Recently, Renault unveiled their new operational director, Tavares Carlos, as well as their plans for the next couple of years. Renault is assertively seeking to develop a strong brand identity in Europe and America and be competitive in the SUV niche in China. Renault has been under pressure somewhat in the medium to superior class of cars dropping from 150,000 cars sold in 2005 to only 100,000 cars last year. As they work to build their latest line of cars, Renault must continue to cash in on those cars that continue to sell well. The press in France feel that Renault should make an effort to smooth out the large divide between their partner, Nissan in the amount of cars sold as Nissan has sold over four million cars while Renault has sold 2.6 million cars.
Renault has a major disadvantage; the company is not seen in China and this problem must be solved in 2013-2016. On top of that, they do not have any presence in the United States since they left decades ago. You don’t see any clear plans concerning the American markets but Renault will try to consolidate its position in Russia and Brazil. So far, they havent had much success in India but still develop for this market with newer and superior car models.
To sum up, the intention of Renault is to grow the annual sales by more than 400 000 units but this goal can only be achieved if the company brings new design innovations with their existing and upcoming line of cars.
