How can I make myself stand out at a open house / interview session?
A store nearby is hiring for a brand new location. A open house interviewing session is going to happen today at the main office. The store employee told me you just fill out an application, go to the office and they will give you an interview on the spot. Hearing this and knowing how bad the economy is lets me know there will probably be a lot of people all with the same basic information on the paper. How can I make myself stand out to the company? Its goodwill btw.
You must dress professionally. That is non negotiable! Bring a copy of a well written resume that will present the way your skills match what they are looking for. Always show up early in order to show your interest and last but not least be very polite and confident (not cocky).
