Should i go to college or become a union organizer?
I am about to start my senior year in high school. my uncle is a big time union official and said if i wanted a job right out of high school he could get me a job as a union organizer. it pays $35k with medical, pension, Cadillac company car, etc. I was planning to go to college but now this came up,,, i’m a little lost.
p.s.: no union bad talk please. i know people out there hate the idea of unions and i respect your opinion if you dont care for them…
If you want to see what’s it is like, tell your college counselor and colleges that you want to take a gap year. You can work and see what it’s like and what your prospects of a promotion are. If you can make around 50k a year in your life ( a normal college graduate’s salary), you should probably go for it. If you don’t like it, you can get a degree.
Right now, if you don’t get a degree and say you lose your job, getting back on your feet will be extremely difficult. A college degree will help you get a job with $45,000+ salary with prospects of promotion, and you’ll be able to work until you retire.
