Serrated or plain edge?
I’m going to the Gerber paraframe 1 knife soon and I’m still wondering if I should get it with a full plain edge or half plain half serrated?
The reason why they put a serrated edge is because the steel is junk and not capable of holding an edge. I tested out one (non-serrated) and it wouldn’t even make one slicing cut through a piece of rope (the average factory blade makes between 5 and 10 while the knives I make average between 25 and 50). The slicing cut requires a razor sharp edge and the steel the Gerber uses (420 SS) is not capable of acquiring or holding that fine of an edge due to itsmetallurgicall properties. It will do for a junk knife, I’ve been looking for one to replace the blade with a better on because I do like the handle. Good luck.
