Gusseted Poly Bags

A Gusseted poly bag is an evolution from the flat poly bag, which is the basic and most popular type of poly bag. The flat poly bag is sealed by heating or by taping the open area. Due to the increasing demand, changes were made to the flat poly bag and it was developed to create the expandable poly bag.
The expandable or gusseted poly bags have the same structure as the flat poly bags, but the difference is that it has an extended area. The expanded area is usually found in the sides or at the bottom of the bag. This design is made to accommodate larger and bulkier materials. Aside from these, the poly bags are usually made from 100% low density polyethylene (LDPE) resins. This product meets the requirements set by the FDA/USDA. The poly bag follows a certain thickness for the material which is + or – 20% as stated by Federal Specifications.
There are several sizes for this type of bag. The size depends on the dimensions that the industries require. When you say dimensions, it is not just the size of what you see, which includes the expanded area already. To get the dimension of the bag, you should take the actual width of the bag. This is the area that covers the measurement across the bag. This is taken at the opening or mouth area of the bag. To take the depth of the bag, you should take the measurement of the whole bag. This includes the expandable area, whether on the side or at the bottom. To take the length dimension, measure the opening to the bottom part of the bag.
There are several sources for this type of poly bag. Most of the suppliers already have their own websites where you can order your required sizes. These sites can also work on your specifications if your desired dimension is not available to them. You can likewise personalize your gusseted poly bags and use your own logo.
