Being a sniper?
Im 19 years old I’m going to a 2 year college in the fall & after that I want to join the military & work my way up to a green beret & then to be a sniper. There’s a lot of non sense on here about being a sniper. Most people dont understand the stress mentally and physically to do it. They play a video game & think they’re qualified to join a military branch & go do it. I on the other hand, want some real answers…I know that being a sniper is my calling in life, I have wanted to do since I was 13. I have studied this stuff for years now. I have made my own ghillies, practiced field craft, studied modern warfare, & stayed in peak physical condition. So the question is, what can I do to better prepare myself? Are there any good books out there, like on fieldcraft & precision shooting? Where do I learn the formulas they use for shooting? Like how wind value, elevation, humidity, etc etc come into play?And what do I REALLY need to have down & learned by the time I get to sniper school?

Enlist as an Infantryman. I don’t know why you are spinning your wheels going to a Junior College. Unless you are trying to make Mommy and Daddy happy… If you think you have what it takes, what are you waiting for?
If you want to get into the mix then do it. I see this on here all the time… “I wanna be a Sniper; I wanna be a Green Beret…”
Put your money where your mouth is and go to the recruiting station tomorrow, and GO.
I’m not trying to bash you, but if you have “wanted to do it” since you were 13, and you are now 19, then you are procrastinating.
You’ll find out what you need to do once you are in. Nothing anyone can tell you on Yahoo is going to better prepare you.
Enlist, and start moving towards your goal. By the time you are eligible to volunteer for Sniper and/or SF, you’ll know what you need to do by then.
I strongly recommend you don’t enlist as an 18X (SF Candidate) which is possible once you turn 20. Your chances of making it through that just coming off the street are almost zero. Go Infantry (or possibly Cav Scout) and get some experience for 2 or 3 years and THEN drop your SF packet or Sniper school application (although the sniper slot is largely up to your unit).
Being a Sniper isn’t what you think it is. Especially in Iraq and Afghanistan. Once you are in the Army, you’ll understand.
