Painting REPLACEMENT hood…?
If I’m replacing my hood with a brand new one I got online, what are the prep steps before shooting with a primer.. Since this is “Brand New” metal, do I have to shoot a sealer first, then primer, or can I start with the primer
i own a shop and you need to sand it real good first ,then clean it really good work out any minor imperfections it will have in it,and it will have some,then use a good primer on it i use an epoxy primer, its expensive but it works well,then prep it again tape it off and paint it,if you haven’t ever done this before ,you will mess it up ,painting is not as easy as it looks,you can also use a lacquer primer which paint will adhere to also, but unless you have real good paint guns,and the right stuff to do it with its going to be hard to do especially for a beginner,good luck with it hope this helps.
