Why the sharp point of cheese knife is curved?
I was wondering why cheese knife is somehow curvy? And i never saw cheese knife with straight sharp point, just like any other ordinary knife?
There are actually several types of cheese knife. Some look like miniature cleavers, and some have very short, stout blades for cutting very hard cheeses. Most “all purpose” cheese knives have a forked tip, so the knife can also be used to serve pieces of cheese, and a little bit of a curve so that they can be used to spread softer cheeses. Knives for softer cheese also tend to have large openings in the blade to reduce friction, but I have also seen knives which incorporate the curve and the openings; it seems to me that it would be pretty tough to spread with a knife like this, though, so I’m at a loss to explain this blade style.
