Shear Set
What wood epoxy/adhesive is good for shear stress?

I’m trying to attach a two boards together. One board (thin strip) nails into the wall, then I bond the other board (1″x7 1/4″x30″) to the thin strip. The 7 1/4″ x 30″ face is the side with the adhesive. As you can guess, this creates quite a bit of shear stress on the epoxied joint.

Does anyone recommend an adhesive to attach the two boards? The nailed board can slide into the nail holes, so the bonding can be done off the wall. Clamping/setting shuoldn’t be a problem. I’m worried more about the ability to handle the shear stress than the drying/bonding time. Thanks.
