Is it dangerous to eat off of steel plates?
I’ve got a steel dinner plate I sometimes use, and because it’s not stainless, it rusts if I don’t clean it right away. I DO clean it, with steel wool and all, and dry it thoroughly, so rust isn’t really a problem, but I’m just wondering if it leeches anything into my food that I need to worry about.

Over time, the steel plate will develop scratches (especially since you’re using an SOS pad). Tiny bits of bacteria and food can get trapped in there and can even cling to the bottom of the scratches. In time, the bacteria could latch onto the food you put on the plate.
