How do i apply RTV PROPERLY?
I am sealing my rearend with some SUPER GREY RTV sealer from the auto parts store… What is the proper procedure to use this gasket maker?
I have heard and done different methods:
Apply maker, let RTV sit for 10 minute, put on cover and thread bolts til RTV comes out the sides evenly. Then wait 30 minutes and tighten down…
Apply maker, thread bolts down til gasket comes out sides, let sit for 30 min, tighten botls down to spec..
Directions on the package are very vague…
That will work however – BOTH mating surfaces have to be SQUEAKY CLEAN.
I prefer lacquer thinner since it leaves no residue.
