How can I make an edible tree on a tier cake?
I am making a five tier cake with fondant. I want to create a very stylized tree that begins on the bottom left corner of the lowest tier and the tree and its branches extend up to three tiers.
I’d rather not “paint” it on the fondant or ice it on with a bag and tip. I am looking for something edible I can sculpt a tree out of and place directly on the fondant. I don’t want it to be free standing, in other words I want it to press against each tier as it ascends so it is directly on the cake.
So, something I can sculpt with and make delicate branches, clay like, and can then be gently pressed directly on the cake. I’ve tried fondant but it’s too light, and as I create the branches and shape them, they break. Suggestions?
