Help!!! My dog found a baby cottontail and brought it to us. How do we care for it if we cant find the nest???
ok, my dog brought us a baby bunny about an hour ago. we brought it in the house, put it in a tupperware container with lots of washclothes and a warm water bottle. what else can we do to try to keep it alive? we dont want to bring it somewhere because, well, there isnt anywhere to bring it to in our small town. we really just want to keep it alive. its eyes are open but it looks like that just recently happened. thanks for any help or info you have!!!
Baby rabbits are very nearly impossible to keep alive. Your best bet if no one is close is to try and get in touch with a wildlife rehabilitator and either give it too them or at least get some tips from them. Rabbits go into shock very, very easily and just kind of stop trying to live. You’ll need a bottle for puppies and kittens and if you can get it, goat’s milk is the best. Make sure to keep it warm and try very hard not to startle it. If you can’t get goat’s milk then your local vet may have cans of milk re-placer that you can buy.
