Pot Rack – You’ve Got to Have One of These
I was in my local supermarket the other day shopping for food and things I needed to replace in my kitchen. I wasn’t in the store more than five minutes when I ran into neighbors of mine in the produce section. It was John and Monica the retire couple who live in the corner house on my block.
You could see that Monica was wearing a back brace and John was pushing the shopping cart while Monica was reading from a shopping list. I walked over to them and asked Monica what happened and why was she wearing a back brace. Monica explained to me that while she was preparing dinner last night in her kitchen, she bent down to one of her lower kitchen cabinets to take out a frying pan and pulled a muscle in her back.
I told Monica that must be painful and I wished her a quick recovery. John said that he has strained his back in the past by taking pots and pans out of those lower cabinets in his kitchen himself. John also said that there must be a better way to store our pots and pans, so we don’t have to bend down into our cabinets every time we want to cook.
I thought that the solution to their problem was obvious. I looked at the two of them standing there and said, “Have you ever thought about installing a pot rack in your kitchen?”
They both thought that a pot rack was a wonderful idea, but neither one of them knew much about pot racks. I suggested that after we were finished with our grocery shopping, that I would drop by their house later in the afternoon with my notebook computer and show them what their options are when it come to kitchen pot racks.
Later that day I dropped by John and Monica’s house with my computer. We started out by taking a good look at their kitchen to see where a pot rack might fit in. While we were standing in the kitchen I explained to them how pot racks may be installed.
You have basically three types of pot racks. The first type of pot rack is floor standing, the second type of pot rack is wall mounted and the third type of pot rack is a hanging rack usually hung by some sort of decorative chain from the ceiling.
Next, I explained to them that some pot racks are a combination pot rack and lighting fixture. Depending on where you want to install the pot rack, you may want to also use it as a lighting fixture for the entire kitchen or over a food preparation area.
So now I explained to them that depending on what purpose was intended for the pot rack, you could buy a basic rack with no frills or you could go with an extremely artful pot rack that will be an attention grabbing piece of craftsmanship. Depending on what you are looking for, the price range of pot racks goes from low to high and everything in between.
These space saving devices are available in a plethora of styles, materials, colors or finishes. For those of you who want the added feature of a lighting fixture combination pot rack, you have a vast selection of lighting styles to choose from.
Not only do pot racks give you more space in your kitchen cabinets, they also provide easy access to the tools you use more often in your kitchen. I suggest you go online right now and explore the possibilities.
